Right on time
Of course, I did my trip to the States, back to Rome, then back to Finland, and not once did a write a post. Typical. I’ll try to be better now that I have the website up and running. I had a great time in the States, flew to Wisconsin to see a good friend of mine. My youngest came with me, and we stayed a few days, making complete nuisances of ourselves. We fell in love with her dogs, especially her pittie, Chip. Such a sweet dog! We scolded her on her dialysis, played some Cards Against Humanity with the family (her daughter and wife came over), I fixed entirely too-salty fried chicken, but everyone was quite polite about it and choked it down.
I attended one of Dilly’s dance competitions, and boy, can she dance! I’m so proud of her getting out there and really sticking with it. Dilly turned 8 this year, and they threw a small party at home with some of her friends. The youngest and I also discovered a new world at the Pflugerville Library, the world of 3D printing. It was a great experience, and I plan to make good use of the library when I go back.
And I finally met Buc-ee!
Coming back to Rome, I was only there for a week or so, and the weather was on the cool side, so very little sunbathing to be had. We did take a trip out to see the Trevi Fountain at night, finally, and it was very lovely.
On my return to Finland, I got my dog back, and he actually did some tail-wagging-wiggling-butt for me. Simos is a good old dog, and soon I’m going to publish the background to the type of dog he is (made up breed, of course, the Grecian Temple Hound). I’ve used my time to really rearrange the house, and try to get rid of more “stuff”. On a whim, I hosted a young lady who lives in Tampere, but is from Vietnam, who needed a couch to crash on as she waiting on word for a gig in Lapland. Unfortunately, that fell through for her, but on the plus side, she stayed with me for over a week, as she explored Oulu and we really had a good time together. We did the grand opening of our newest local “Normal” store, with goodie bags! She fixed some pho and some buns, and I fixed southern fried chicken for her. Yes, fried chicken is “my” dish for everyone. It’s part of my love language.
My 3D printer came in and I am OBSESSED. I printed out the Benchy, of course, and lots of cute animal toys and dragons, but I’ve started focusing on more useful things, and I think that is coming along well. I want a second printer, though. Hao helped me switch rooms so that now my office/hobby room is in what was the bigger guest room. The former office works well as a guest room, and this room here works well for me. I think I have quite the setup going, although it still might change.
I’ll try to write a separate post on the 3D printing obsession, and add some photos. I do want to start selling the prints, and save up for a 2nd printer and/or a recycling setup. Creality has one on Kickstarter, but it’s like €1400 and I doubt I can sell that much…but we’ll see!
So that catches us up, and I hope to post at least once a week, if not more often.
Take care of yourselves!
